Yesterday’s Diet

Not to be missed: Abe Books’ roundup of diet books from the past. Martinis and Whipped Cream is the 1966 version of Atkins, How to Gain Weight, circa the 1950s, is a title that has no modern parallel.

My favorite title is the 1946 opus Modeling for Motherhood –Heir Conditioning the Modern Mrs. which offers married mothers the latest on diet and grooming advice, along with "amusing text and gay illustrations".
